last weekend... [Feb. 13th, 2006|07:53 am]
I had a party at my friend’s place in Taguig, where I met some nice looking people. A cute guy introduced himself as a lawyer. He said he recognized me because he often times see me at the Supreme Court. He thought that I am also a lawyer. I told him I am a paralegal. Anyway, we had an interesting conversation which ended up into something that is out of the ordinary :-)

Fast forward…since I have plans to jog around Fort Boni the next day, I decided to sleep over at my friend’s house. It was already late to go home, anyway. Despite the loud music, I was able to sleep well. I woke up at 6am and went to AJ’s place to pick him up. We jogged for about an hour inside the Manila Polo Club. We went back to the condominium and changed our clothes. We were supposed to walk all the way to Santuario but decided to take the cab because we are already late for the mass. The sermon was already over when we got there. We finished the mass, anyway. After breakfast, we decided to attend the worship service at the St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church across the street. It was a quite solemn place compared to Santuario. Not much people though. I met Tony and AJ’s priest friend. A big burly guy with a jovial personality. After the service, I went to my office and took a nap. AJ watched a musical play with friends. We meet up again at the Ayala MRT Station and went to Starsmash Timog for our badminton session with my other friends. I also invited Stephanie, Toffer and Tim. I was so surprised when I also saw Poma and his friends. Some inactive members of PLUS Group also showed up. We had a big group that night and I enjoyed our games even though we were only able to play for 30 minutes. After the game, I decided to go home but a friend invited me to come over to his place for dinner. I got home around ten in the evening….

sad morning... [Dec. 18th, 2004|04:44 pm]
I was on my way to UP when I saw Inquirer's headline -- De Venecia loses 'light of my life'. Speaker de Venecia’s daughter died in a fire accident. She was too young to die. Being a protestant, we have a different view about death, but I still feel temporarily sad about death. Argh... I don't want to talk about it at this point in time.

Oh, well… need to get myself busy.

Party at the Penthouse [Dec. 17th, 2004|06:18 pm]
[mood | relaxed]

Penthouse
Executive Lounge
Makati Stock Exchange Buildign

I arrived an hour before our office party starts. Claud was there already and was busy organizing things for the party. We had a chit chat about some of our common friends.

I feel awful. I know it is bad to label people especially when the “label” you’ve given that individual can also be ascribed to you, but I just did that to another person and I feel sorry about it. Being critical in a non-constructive way is something that I need to change in myself.

People start coming in…

It’s nice to party and have fun with your officemates after weeks of working hard. The last few days have been so hard for all of us. We have tons of work to accomplish in time for the year-end reporting.

Rick, my fellow triathlete, came in late and sat next to me. He was in walking short again. He has been in that attire for almost a week to keep his uncovered wounds on his left leg dry. He had a bike accident while competing in the Powerbar Duathlon. We talked about training and upcoming triathlon events.

Food was great. The shrimp with curry sauce was superb. I don’t normally eat that kind of food but it looks so inviting. The Korean BBQ was so tasty, too. I had a second serving. Talking about food, I have been asking my newbie triathlete friend about the restaurants in Greenbelt area. She didn’t like almost all the restaurants I’ve mentioned to her, which is contrary to what most of my friends have said. Weighing the number of pros and cons, I think I would rely more with my friends who have a more sophisticated taste buds when it comes to food.

My name was called to join the next game. Maite was supposed to be my partner but I beg-off upon learning that I will eat marshmallows. I got scared not of her but of the possibility that I might have a problem with my pustiso. I am so dyahe about it.

The next game was egg plant squeezing. Katawa siya. They paired the young married guys with the chronologically blessed single women. The vegetable was put in between the legs of the guys. The girls have to gently and skillfully make the talong limp without breaking it. The girls acted so squeamish about it while the guys were ostensibly enjoying it.

The party ended at around 11. Rick left an hour ago to spend his birthday with his Polo teammates.

I am so jaded tonight. I need to call a friend.

Restless in Laguna [Dec. 2nd, 2004|11:07 am]
[mood | restless]
[music |no music... listening to a local news radio...]

There are so many things to do in the office but I am having a hard time to focus. My mind is drifting... thinking of so many things... vergel... typhoon... hockey... school... mom... Aargh!!! Sana declare na wala ng pasok... para I could go home and spend some solitude in the privacy of my room... haaay.... I really miss my mom.... wish she is still alive...

I only have a few weeks left before I transfer to my new job (land acquisition or legal division of our mother company), but I still feel apprehensive of leaving my officemates. I have been working with them for almost ten years. They are like my brothers and sisters that I never had. Hmmmm... This situation makes me think.... I just realized that I tend to be more receptive and incline to fraternize with people whom I think could be my ideal siblings. Hmmm... a manifestation of a deprived childhood? Nah... I don’t think so... still thinking...

Hard to read.... [Dec. 2nd, 2004|07:00 am]
[mood | contemplative]

Fuck! Nietzsche is really so hard to undertstand! I have been reading his Genealogy of Morals for several days already but I still can't get a clear picture of his moral concepts. Nietzsche is really difficult to read because he demands that we disregard or suspend many of the assumptions that our very reasoning relies upon. Oh, well.... I guess I have to reread his essays again....
